Private ยท Invitation by review

A trusted space for the people behind employee benefits.

Benefits Commons is a small, high-signal community for in-house benefits, total rewards, wellbeing, leave, and retirement professionals. It is deliberately not a marketplace, and it is not open to people selling into HR.

Applications are reviewed by a human moderator. No automatic approvals.

Built for

  • In-house benefits and health & welfare teams
  • Total rewards and compensation-plus-benefits owners
  • Employee wellbeing, leave, disability and absence leads
  • Retirement, savings and benefits administration professionals
  • Verified public sector, higher education and nonprofit employer teams

Not eligible

  • Brokers, consultants, carriers and TPAs
  • Benefits technology vendors and service providers
  • Sales, business development and marketing into HR
  • Agencies and recruiters prospecting for clients

People at consultancies doing genuine in-house employer benefits work may request review. They are never approved automatically.

Why members stay

Reviewed by people, not by domain

Every application is read by a moderator. A work email alone never gets anyone in, and vendors, brokers and recruiters are not eligible.

Candour you cannot get publicly

Peers talk about what actually happened: the renewal that went sideways, the program that under-delivered, the redesign that worked.

No one is selling to you

No pitches, no unsolicited messages, no lead generation, no exporting the directory. Breaking that gets an account removed.

A directory of actual practitioners

Opt-in, privacy-controlled, and limited to reviewed members. Contact happens only when both people agree to connect.

A library you can use on Monday

Checklists, templates and planning frameworks contributed by members and curated by the community, with clear authorship.

Member-led rooms

Roundtables, AMAs and small peer-learning sessions hosted by members, never by sponsors.

What gets discussed

Topic headlines only. Member discussions, names and employers are never shown publicly.

How membership is verified

We would rather be slow and small than large and compromised. Every application is read by a person who weighs the work email address against the stated employer, the described responsibilities, and the organisation itself.

  • Nothing is auto-approved. A corporate email domain is evidence, not a decision.
  • Ambiguity goes to review. Public email domains, unclear affiliations, consultancies and vendors always get a human look.
  • LinkedIn is context, not proof. We validate the link format only. There is no LinkedIn integration and no LinkedIn identity verification here.
  • No documents. We never ask for ID, payslips, passwords or LinkedIn credentials.

The review path

  1. 1

    Apply

You share your role, employer, responsibilities and why you want in.

  2. 2

    Pending

A moderator reads the application. You can see your status any time.

  3. 3

    More information

If something is unclear, we ask you directly rather than guessing.

  4. 4

    Decision

Approved, or declined with a reason and a path to ask for reconsideration.

If you own benefits inside an employer, you belong here. Applications take a few minutes and are read by a person.
